The Anghami Cyanite partnership, announced on March 24, 2026, will enrich 2.5 million songs with artificial intelligence-generated music metadata across the MENA streaming platform’s catalog. Anghami, listed on NASDAQ as ANGH, operates across 16 countries and serves more than 120 million registered users.

The integration uses Cyanite’s auto-tagging API to analyze audio directly and generate structured metadata. This data covers mood, genre, energy level, instrumentation, and additional audio characteristics. The structured output feeds into Anghami’s internal recommendation systems to improve music discovery at scale.

How the AI Tagging System Works

Cyanite’s API analyzes audio signals rather than relying on behavioral data or language-based metadata. As a result, the system operates consistently across different musical cultures and languages. This approach allows the platform to tag content regardless of the language in which a song is performed or described.

Cyanite has tagged more than 40 million songs to date and works with over 200 companies worldwide. Its clients include Warner Chappell, BMG, Epidemic Sound, and APM Music. The company’s models generate metadata across genre, mood, energy, and instrumentation categories.

Anghami Cyanite Partnership and Arabic Music Representation

A significant portion of Anghami’s catalog consists of Arabic and regional content. This content is often underrepresented in AI systems built around Western music frameworks. The audio-based analysis method addresses this gap by treating all audio equally, regardless of cultural origin.

“Anghami operates one of the most culturally diverse music catalogs in the world. Ensuring that Arabic repertoire is tagged with the same precision as Western music is not trivial. We’re proud that our audio-based AI can support music discovery at this scale and across such a rich regional landscape.”

Markus Schwarzer, CEO, Cyanite

“Arabic music carries immense depth, emotion and cultural nuance. Through our partnership with Cyanite, we’re ensuring that this richness is understood at a data level, allowing us to power more accurate personalisation and elevate discovery for millions of listeners.”

Elias El Khoury, VP Information & Content Systems, Anghami

Strategic Value of Metadata at Scale

At a catalog scale of millions of tracks, metadata quality functions as a strategic driver of personalization. Consistent and structured tagging enables streaming platforms to match songs with listener preferences more accurately. It also helps surface long-tail content that might otherwise remain undiscovered.

Moreover, the structured data layer supports Anghami’s ability to improve recommendations across a diverse repertoire. The platform currently holds over 100 million Arabic and international songs and podcasts, alongside more than 18,000 hours of premium video content.

Anghami’s Platform and Regional Footprint

Anghami launched in 2012 as the first music streaming platform to digitize the MENA music catalog. In April 2024, the company merged with OSN+, a video streaming platform, expanding its content library significantly. The combined platform now offers exclusive HBO content alongside its music and podcast catalog.

The platform has 2.5 million paid subscribers and partnerships with 47 telecom operators across MENA. Anghami is headquartered in Abu Dhabi and maintains offices in Beirut, Dubai, Cairo, and Riyadh. The metadata enrichment project represents a continued investment in the platform’s AI-driven personalization infrastructure.
