Anthropic compute expansion reached a major milestone on April 6, 2026, as the company signed a new agreement with Google and Broadcom for multiple gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity expected to come online starting in 2027.
The deal extends Anthropic’s existing relationship with Google Cloud, building on increased TPU capacity the company announced last October. Most of the new compute will be located in the United States, making the agreement a continuation of Anthropic’s November 2025 pledge to invest $50 billion in American computing infrastructure.
Revenue Surpasses $30 Billion
Anthropic’s run-rate revenue has now surpassed $30 billion, up from approximately $9 billion at the end of 2025. The company said demand from artificial intelligence customers accelerated sharply in 2026, with the number of business customers each spending over $1 million annually more than doubling in under two months, rising from over 500 at the time of the Series G fundraising announcement in February to more than 1,000 today.
Anthropic Compute Expansion and Infrastructure Strategy
Krishna Rao, CFO of Anthropic, said the deal reflects a disciplined approach to scaling infrastructure. “We are building the capacity necessary to serve the exponential growth we have seen in our customer base while also enabling Claude to define the frontier of AI development,” Rao said. “We are making our most significant compute commitment to date to keep pace with our unprecedented growth.”
Anthropic trains and runs its Claude models across a range of hardware, including AWS Trainium, Google TPUs, and NVIDIA GPUs. The company said this multi-platform approach allows it to match workloads to the chips best suited for each task, improving performance and resilience for customers who rely on Claude for critical operations.
Cloud Platform Availability
Claude remains available on all three of the world’s largest cloud computing platforms: Amazon Web Services via Bedrock, Google Cloud via Vertex AI, and Microsoft Azure via Foundry. Anthropic said Amazon remains its primary cloud provider and training partner, and the company continues to work with AWS on Project Rainier.
The new TPU agreement deepens a relationship with Broadcom that has grown alongside Anthropic’s rapid customer growth. The company did not specify the exact gigawatt figure covered by the deal, but described it as a significant expansion of its overall compute capacity.
Future Outlook
With new capacity expected to come online in 2027, Anthropic is positioning itself to handle continued growth in enterprise software demand for its Claude models. The company’s multi-cloud, multi-chip strategy signals a long-term focus on supply diversity as competition in the AI sector intensifies globally.
