The China digital sector generated 20.71 trillion yuan, equivalent to approximately $3.08 trillion, during the first half of 2026. Official data published by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed a 13.6 percent year-on-year increase in total revenues, according to Okaz. Strong domestic adoption of modern digital tools and rising export volumes contributed directly to this expansion across major technology segments nationwide.
Profitability and Software Revenue Gains
Total sector profits reached 1.79 trillion yuan in the six-month period, marking an increase of 19.3 percent compared to the previous year. Specifically, rising domestic demand for products powered by artificial intelligence served as a primary growth driver across consumer and commercial markets. In addition, software and information technology services recorded a 9.5 percent rise in business revenues during the same timeframe, underscoring steady enterprise demand for digital management systems and specialized software development.
Manufacturing and Electronic Information Expansion
The value added of the electronics manufacturing industry rose by 14.8 percent year on year, reflecting robust factory floor productivity. Major enterprises operating in electronic information manufacturing recorded 12.15 trillion yuan in revenue, up 17.8 percent compared to the prior year. Furthermore, profits for these major manufacturing firms climbed to 703.6 billion yuan, reflecting a 66 percent annual surge in overall profitability driven by higher production efficiency and expanded output.
Internet Enterprises and Digital Services
Large internet corporations also demonstrated steady operational expansion across the country during the six-month reporting window. Major internet companies recorded a 10.1 percent increase in business revenues, while their combined operating profits grew by 16.6 percent year on year. Meanwhile, businesses operating in this space continue to align operations with broader economy trends, expanding cloud service deployments and digital consumer platforms.
National Infrastructure and Future Outlook
To support sustained technological development and industrial resilience, authorities have established 16 national-level advanced manufacturing clusters across key industrial regions in the country. These hubs coordinate supply chains for components, smart devices, and high-tech equipment. Consequently, the China digital sector aims to accelerate local digital transformation efforts and expand high value-added industrial output across nationwide networks. These strategic hubs will facilitate additional research, development, and production capabilities across modern computers and hardware sectors in the coming years.
