Anthropic has launched Claude Tag, a new collaborative tool that integrates its artificial intelligence model directly into Slack channels. This update allows team members to delegate tasks to the assistant by tagging it in conversations. Consequently, the model can access connected tools, data, and codebases to complete assigned work.
According to the company, the tool builds context by remembering relevant information from the channels it joins. Meanwhile, it can plan out future tasks and work asynchronously on projects. Notably, Anthropic reported that 65% of its own product team’s code is currently created using an internal version of Claude Tag.
Integrating Claude Tag into Slack
The integration allows multiple users within a single channel to interact with the same assistant. As a result, team members can view ongoing tasks and continue conversations from where another user left off. Furthermore, the tool can learn from other permitted channels and data sources to improve its output.
Key Features of the Collaborative Tool
When users enable ambient behavior, the assistant proactively flags relevant information across connected channels. In addition, it can follow up on inactive threads and schedule tasks for itself over hours or days. Users can also send direct messages to the assistant for private responses using personal apps and connectors.
Administrative Controls and Security
System administrators can tightly control access to sensitive data and task-specific tools. Specifically, administrators define separate identities for different uses, ensuring that memories remain scoped to designated channels. For example, a model configured for sales work will not share data with engineering channels. Additionally, administrators can set token spend limits and view activity logs. This structure helps maintain strict data boundaries across different departments.
Migration and Availability Details
The new feature is available in beta for Claude Enterprise and Team customers. It runs on the Opus 4.8 model and replaces the existing Claude in Slack application. To migrate, administrators must opt in within 30 days. Finally, the company is offering introductory launch credits to eligible organizations to test the Claude Tag system.
