Comet Browser iOS is now available on the App Store, bringing Perplexity’s AI-powered browsing experience to iPhone users for the first time. The browser extends capabilities already available on desktop and Android to Apple’s mobile platform.
Comet Browser iOS Arrives on Apple Devices
Perplexity said millions of users already rely on Comet daily across desktop and Android. The iOS version brings the same Comet Assistant — described as one of the most-used AI agents with web access — to iPhone users. The company positioned Comet as a standard-bearer for AI-native browsing.
Voice Mode and Hybrid Search
Voice mode is built directly into Comet for iOS, allowing users to speak questions and receive researched answers without interrupting their browsing session. The feature works across all open tabs, enabling users to ask questions about content they are currently reading.
The search experience combines two distinct modes. Traditional search results pages handle fast, local, and high-intent queries common on mobile. Meanwhile, the Comet Assistant delivers deeper knowledge responses powered by the Perplexity answer engine. As an example, a user can search for sports tournament scores, then ask the Assistant for analysis of a specific matchup.
Deep Research and Summarization Tools
Comet for iOS includes Perplexity’s Deep Research engine, which generates detailed, cited responses on complex topics. Users can research subjects such as GLP-1 treatments or prepare for job interviews using the engine’s output. The Assistant can also summarize open articles and share the summary directly via email.
The mobile browser supports agentic tasks beyond simple search. Users can instruct the Comet Assistant to open calendar events, research meeting participants via LinkedIn and the web, and generate briefing notes. The Assistant can also research options, compare trade-offs, and complete online sign-up forms on a user’s behalf.
Cross-Device Continuity
Comet for iOS supports cross-device session continuity. Research threads started on desktop carry over to iPhone, with context preserved across the transition. Perplexity said the thread remains tied to the page regardless of which device the user switches to.
