The Recycle Your Device initiative partners received special recognition in Riyadh during the LEAP 2026 technology conference. The Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) hosted the ceremony in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology alongside the National Center for Waste Management (MWAN). This recognition celebrated collaborative work between public institutions and private sector companies to manage electronic waste responsibly across Saudi Arabia.
CST Recognizes Public and Private Sector Partners
According to reporting by SPA (English), the ceremony acknowledged eleven prominent entities from different sectors. The list of honored partners included Aramco, ROSHN Group, Eada, Ertiqa, Jahez, Zain, SMSA, the Saudi Green Initiative, Saudi Esports, SIRK, and Co Kitchens. These organizations contributed logistical support, corporate collection drives, and public outreach across the Kingdom.
Furthermore, the collaboration between regulatory bodies and commercial firms has created a steady pipeline for managing discarded smart devices. This multi-sector approach enabled collection points to expand beyond government buildings into commercial centers, retail outlets, and residential districts.
Recycling Over 400,000 Electronic Devices
Between its inception and the end of 2025, the national program collected more than 400,000 devices. The estimated market value of these collected items exceeded 120 million Saudi riyals, reflecting the immense economic value retained through equipment refurbishment and material recovery. In addition, the initiative recorded active participation from over 40,000 individual community members across multiple regions.
As a result of these widespread public contributions, technical teams successfully refurbished or recycled over 960 tons of electronic equipment. This massive volume diverted hazardous materials away from conventional landfills, supporting national objectives for circular economy development.
The Impact of Recycle Your Device
Community benefit represents a primary outcome for participants in the Recycle Your Device campaign. Repaired equipment provided vital technology access to more than 120 educational organizations and charitable societies throughout the Kingdom. Consequently, students and low-income households gained access to functional computers, tablets, and mobile hardware for distance learning and vocational training.
Additionally, specialized charities distributed these renewed units to local support centers, enhancing digital inclusion while teaching young learners the value of environmental care. The initiative demonstrates how waste reduction programs can directly assist social development programs.
Long-Term Environmental Goals in Saudi Arabia
Originally introduced by CST in 2022, the initiative forms a key element of the Commission’s environmental strategy. The project aims to reduce e-waste toxicity, promote sustainable device lifecycles, and increase consumer awareness regarding circular consumption habits. In parallel, modernization across national telecom networks continues to emphasize energy efficiency and reduced hardware waste.
Looking ahead, CST and MWAN plan to expand their regional collection points and corporate donation frameworks. By integrating tech manufacturers and logistics providers, the initiative continues to build a sustainable circular model for consumer electronics across Saudi Arabia.
