The National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) has implemented the Cybersecurity Fostering Program for the Hajj season 1447 AH to secure technological systems and services. More than 300 national entities benefited from this initiative, which aims to raise cybersecurity readiness and build specialized national capabilities across the Kingdom.
The initiative includes four key tracks to protect the digital infrastructure during the pilgrimage season. Specifically, these tracks focus on cyber threat detection and response, cyber risks and assessments, cyber drills, and cybersecurity awareness. Meanwhile, the authority activated a 24/7 cyber operations room to monitor and analyze threats, sharing data directly with participating national entities.
Four Strategic Tracks of the Cybersecurity Fostering Program
Under this framework, the authority registered technical assets and services through the National Portal for Cybersecurity Services, known as Haseen. Furthermore, the authority established plans to support national entities in conducting cyber assessments for systems used during the season. Consequently, these measures ensure a secure and reliable digital experience for pilgrims.
Cyber Drills and Threat Simulation
Under the cyber drills track, the authority conducted a specialized exercise with the participation of more than 1,000 officials and specialists. Notably, this exercise simulated real-world cyberattacks to train personnel on response mechanisms and modern attack techniques. The drill was hosted on a local platform developed in cooperation with the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE).
Raising Awareness Across Key Facilities
In addition to technical drills, the authority focused heavily on the Cybersecurity Fostering Program to raise awareness among pilgrims and institutional personnel. The authority organized interactive awareness exhibitions at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina. These exhibitions were held in cooperation with Jeddah Airports Company and Tibah Airports Operation Company.
Moreover, the authority conducted specialized awareness sessions that benefited more than 5,500 employees from participating national entities. In collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, digital safety guidelines were also distributed across more than 1,000 hospitality facilities in Makkah and Medina. As a result, both pilgrims and workers received critical information to prevent digital threats.
The Role of the National Cybersecurity Authority
As the national reference for cyber affairs, the NCA continues to protect the vital interests and infrastructure of Saudi Arabia. The authority is responsible for establishing incident response frameworks, monitoring compliance, and building national capabilities. Ultimately, these efforts aim to create a secure Saudi cyberspace that supports national growth and prosperity.
