Dhahran Mall Ramadan 1446H programme brought together local organisations, families, and charitable causes across the Eastern Province under the seasonal theme “Where Hearts Gather / هنا تجتمع القلوب.” The mall, which has served the region for nearly two decades, structured its activities around cultural, spiritual, and charitable pillars throughout the holy month.

First-of-Its-Kind Athan Broadcast in a Saudi Mall

One of the season’s central initiatives involved a partnership with the Qur’an Eastern Region organization (جمعية تحفيظ الشرقية). The mall hosted what is believed to be the first Athan broadcast inside a shopping mall in the Kingdom, featuring the voices of the organisation’s own students. The initiative placed the mall’s shared public space at the service of young reciters drawn from the local community.

Dhahran Mall Ramadan Cultural and Heritage Activations

Cultural programming formed a significant part of the Ramadan schedule. Over two days, the mall honoured the Gulf tradition of Girgian with live band performances and candy distribution for children. On the second day, the mall partnered with the Mustang Club for a Girgian-themed vehicle showcase at Gate 5, drawing families and car enthusiasts across generations.

A dedicated Saudi Founding Day activation offered visitors an informative exploration of the Kingdom’s founding history. The activation targeted younger generations in particular, reflecting the mall’s stated role in strengthening national and cultural identity within its community.

Charitable Giving and Community Feedback

The programme included a charitable component developed in partnership with Benaa Association for Orphans. The mall team prepared and donated 100 Ramadan food baskets to families across the Eastern Province. The effort extended the season’s reach beyond the mall’s physical premises and into the wider community.

On-ground visitor surveys ran continuously throughout the season, keeping community feedback as an active input into the visitor experience. The mall said the surveys informed real-time adjustments to its programme delivery.

“For nearly two decades, the community of the Eastern Province has been at the heart of everything we do at Dhahran Mall. This Ramadan, we asked ourselves how we could go further than providing a space for celebration and instead participate in the values of the month itself. Partnering with the Qur’an Memorization Association, honouring Girgian and our national heritage — each of these reflected the same commitment to the people who have made this mall their own. We are grateful to every organisation, family, and visitor who gave this season its meaning.”

Digital Engagement and Social Media Reach

Across digital platforms, the season generated audience engagement through a local runner named AbdulAziz Fahd, known on Instagram as za4i, who completed a 16 km route inside the mall as part of his personal Ramadan challenge. The activity attracted attention online and complemented influencer activations during the Girgian celebrations.

Background and Ongoing Renovation

Dhahran Mall has served families in the Eastern Province for nearly twenty years. The mall is currently undergoing a comprehensive refresh programme called “Tajdeed,” which aims to strengthen its retail, dining, and entertainment offer for the next generation of visitors. The mall’s management said the Ramadan programme reflects its long-term approach to community engagement rather than a one-off seasonal effort.
