Emirates travel insurance has been updated with a new full travel cover product to support passengers during various travel disruptions. The Dubai-based airline launched this product on June 17, 2026, in partnership with Travel Guard. Consequently, passengers can now access expanded medical protection and travel assistance directly through the airline.
This new product represents a significant shift in how the airline handles passenger care during flight cancellations. Specifically, the policy covers medical expenses arising from conflict-related incidents, which is a new addition to the standard coverage. Meanwhile, the airline will manage hotel accommodations and support services during unexpected operational delays.
Details of the Emirates travel insurance
The updated Emirates travel insurance includes standard benefits such as trip cancellation coverage and baggage delay compensation. Furthermore, passengers receive unlimited medical expense coverage and emergency medical evacuation worldwide. This product aims to address a specific gap in the global market by offering more reassurance.
“Listening to customer feedback, we realised that travel demand remains strong but there was a gap in the market with regards to travel insurance cover. Therefore, we acted to address our customers’ needs.”
Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline
Conflict Coverage and Trip Extensions
Specifically, the conflict-related medical coverage provides reimbursement of up to $25,000 for medical expenses. In addition, passengers can receive a free trip extension of up to 30 days if their travel is disrupted by conflict. Notably, this specific coverage remains active regardless of any official government travel advice.
Disruption Support and Rebooking Options
During major disruptions, such as airspace closures, the airline will directly manage hotel stays for affected passengers. Moreover, if Emirates flights are unavailable, the airline will rebook passengers on alternative airlines to their final destinations. This rebooking service is provided at no extra cost to the traveler, even during conflict-related cancellations.
These services are integrated with existing customer benefits, including free date changes for tickets booked from April 2. Additionally, travelers can use the option to hold their fares for 24 hours without any charge. These features are designed to offer maximum flexibility during the booking process.
Available Markets and Purchase Methods
The new Emirates travel insurance is available for purchase starting today through the airline’s official website. Passengers can add the policy during the initial booking process or later through the online booking management tool. However, coverage and availability may vary depending on the specific local market.
Currently, the product is available in 27 markets, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and several European nations. Specifically, countries like Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada are included in the initial rollout. As a result, a wide range of international travelers can now access these updated protection options.
By introducing this updated Emirates travel insurance, the airline and Travel Guard seek to establish a new standard for passenger protection. The collaboration combines the airline’s operational support with the insurance expertise of Travel Guard. Consequently, travelers can plan their summer journeys with a clearer understanding of their coverage options.
