Gemini 3.1 Pro, Google’s upgraded core AI model, is now rolling out across consumer, developer, and enterprise platforms starting February 20, 2026. The release follows last week’s update to Gemini 3 Deep Think and delivers the underlying intelligence that powers that model’s capabilities.
What Is Gemini 3.1 Pro?
Gemini 3.1 Pro builds on the Gemini 3 series and represents a step forward in core reasoning performance. Google designed the model for tasks where a simple answer is insufficient, targeting complex problem-solving across science, research, and engineering. The model scored 77.1% on ARC-AGI-2, a benchmark that evaluates a model’s ability to solve entirely new logic patterns. That score is more than double the reasoning performance of its predecessor, Gemini 3 Pro.
Gemini 3.1 Pro Availability Across Platforms
Google is deploying Gemini 3.1 Pro across multiple platforms simultaneously. Developers can access the model in preview via the Gemini API in Google AI Studio, Gemini CLI, the agentic development platform Google Antigravity, and Android Studio. Enterprise customers can access it through Vertex AI and Gemini Enterprise. Consumers can use the model through the Gemini app and NotebookLM, with higher usage limits available for Google AI Pro and Ultra plan subscribers. NotebookLM access is exclusive to Pro and Ultra users.
Key Capabilities and Use Cases
The model targets practical applications that require advanced reasoning. These include synthesizing complex data into a single view, generating clear visual explanations of difficult topics, and supporting creative projects. One notable capability is code-based animation: Gemini 3.1 Pro can generate website-ready, animated SVGs directly from a text prompt. Because these animations are built in pure code rather than pixels, they remain sharp at any scale and produce smaller file sizes compared to traditional video formats.
Preview Status and Road to General Availability
Google is releasing Gemini 3.1 Pro in preview to validate the updates before a general availability launch. The company stated that user feedback since the November release of Gemini 3 Pro has driven the pace of these improvements. Google said further advancements are planned in areas such as agentic workflows before the model becomes generally available. No specific date for general availability was provided.
