Security Center SaaS, the cloud-based physical security platform from Genetec Inc., has received a set of access control updates that simplify visitor workflows, expand hardware compatibility, and add optional biometric authentication. The company said the changes are designed to help organizations modernize without replacing existing infrastructure.
What’s New in Security Center SaaS
The update introduces a redesigned front desk experience that brings visitor check-in and cardholder access into a single cloud-based interface. Front desk staff can manage both scheduled and walk-in visits from one screen, while security teams retain oversight through policy-driven controls. Visitor screening rules can verify individuals against external databases during check-in, and predefined actions, such as alerting security staff, trigger automatically when a match or exception is detected.
Expanded Hardware and Intrusion Panel Support
Genetec said the update broadens cybersecurity hardware compatibility within the platform. The company’s Cloudlink appliances allow organizations to connect existing access control and intrusion hardware to the cloud without a full infrastructure replacement. New intrusion panel support covers Radionix, formerly known as Bosch, and Honeywell, with DMP support expected shortly.
Biometric Authentication via SAFR SCAN Integration
A new integration with SAFR SCAN brings optional facial authentication to Security Center SaaS. Genetec said this capability offers a faster authentication method while reducing reliance on physical credentials such as cards or badges. The feature is available as an optional add-on, meaning organizations can deploy it without altering their broader security architecture.

Genetec said the visitor management updates are suited to schools, healthcare facilities, and corporate offices that require consistent visitor controls without adding complexity at reception. By separating front desk tasks from security policy enforcement, organizations can reduce manual steps and maintain situational awareness across multiple sites. The cloud-based approach also means updates and new capabilities reach users without disruptive on-site upgrade cycles.
The open architecture of Security Center SaaS means organizations are not locked into a single hardware vendor. Genetec serves more than 42,500 customers across over 159 countries through a network of accredited channel partners and consultants. The company is headquartered in Montreal, Canada, and has operated in the physical security software market for over 25 years.
Outlook
With DMP intrusion panel support arriving soon and the SAFR SCAN integration now available, Genetec said it plans to continue expanding the hardware ecosystem supported by Security Center SaaS. The company framed the updates as part of a broader effort to give enterprises more control over the pace and scope of their cloud migration, rather than requiring a single large-scale transition.
