Kingston IronKey Locker+ 50 G2 (LP50G2), a new generation of hardware-encrypted USB flash drives, launched on March 17, 2026, by Kingston Digital Europe Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Kingston Technology. The drive carries FIPS 197 certification and uses 256-bit AES encryption in XTS mode to protect sensitive data at an enterprise level.
The LP50G2 features a premium light-grey metal casing and supports multiple password roles for both administrators and users. Moreover, the drive offers two password input modes: a Complex mode supporting passwords of 6 to 16 characters drawn from at least three of four character classes, and a Passphrase mode supporting PINs, sentences, word lists, or memorable phrases ranging from 10 to 64 characters.

The cybersecurity protections built into the LP50G2 include digitally signed firmware that guards against BadUSB attacks. In addition, the drive locks the user password after 10 consecutive failed login attempts. If the administrator password is entered incorrectly 10 consecutive times, the drive performs a cryptographic erase of all stored data.
Furthermore, the drive includes a virtual keyboard to protect password entry from keylogger and screen-capture malware. An eye button allows users to view the typed password, reducing failed login attempts. The metal casing also carries a fingerprint- and scratch-resistant coating for physical protection.
Compatibility and Ease of Use
The LP50G2 requires no software installation and works across multiple computers without setup friction. The drive is compatible with Windows 11 and macOS versions 13.x through 26.x. It connects via a USB Type-A interface and operates at USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds, with read speeds up to 145 MB/s and write speeds up to 115 MB/s.
Storage Capacities and Specifications
The drive is available in four storage capacities: 32 GB (IKLP50G2/32GB), 64 GB (IKLP50G2/64GB), 128 GB (IKLP50G2/128GB), and 256 GB (IKLP50G2/256GB). It measures 60.56 mm x 18.6 mm x 9.6 mm and weighs 22.94 grams. Operating temperature ranges from 0°C to 50°C, while storage temperature ranges from -20°C to 85°C.
The LP50G2 is backward compatible with USB 3.0, USB 3.1, and USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports. Kingston backs the drive with a five-year limited warranty and free technical support.
