The e-commerce platform Shahbandar has officially rebranded as Komrz and launched its new Komrz AI agent named Komi to drive its expansion into the GCC and European markets.
According to a report by ZAWYA, this strategic shift comes after three years of operating under the Shahbandar name, during which the company built a base of over 20,000 merchants across Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
The rebranding aligns with a new corporate strategy centered on smart e-commerce and autonomous digital assistants. The newly introduced Komrz AI agent, Komi, serves as an interactive assistant designed to help merchants manage daily operations, develop business workflows, and engage with customers using simple text commands.
“The Shahbandar name was an important start in our journey, through which we built the trust of thousands of merchants. However, our ambition has grown and our direction has moved from the region to the world, so we chose the name Komrz to express the next phase, which focuses on artificial intelligence, international expansion, and building a new infrastructure for commerce.”

Global Expansion and Payment Integrations
To support its growth in the Gulf and European regions, the company has established partnerships with major payment and shipping providers. In Saudi Arabia, the platform integrates with local payment solutions including Moyasar, Tabby, Tamara, and PayTabs. For European markets, the company has integrated Stripe, PayPal, and Klarna to facilitate transactions.
Logistics operations are supported through partnerships with shipping providers such as Aramex, FedEx, UPS, Zajil, and SMSA. These integrations allow traditional merchants to transition to online retail without requiring advanced technical expertise.
Features of the Komrz AI Agent
The platform offers tools to enhance digital storefronts, including video commerce and live streaming capabilities. Merchants can use the Komrz AI agent to design stores, write product descriptions, and generate promotional images or videos. Additionally, the system provides real-time analytics to help business owners make informed decisions and anticipate market trends.
“The launch of Komi represents a strategic step in our direction, because we are creating a different way for merchants to develop and grow their businesses, rather than just building tools for the sake of building. Artificial intelligence will be the daily partner for merchants in their operational processes and decision-making during the coming period.”

Transition from Shahbandar to Komrz
Founded in 2023, the startup originally focused on local merchant enablement in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The transition to the new brand in July 2026 marks its official entry into international markets. By incorporating artificial intelligence directly into the storefront setup, the company aims to simplify the digital transformation process for traditional retailers.
Future Outlook for Smart Commerce
As the company rolls out its services in the GCC and Europe, it plans to gradually expand its suite of AI-driven tools. The integration of automated assistants represents a growing trend in the global retail sector. By offering localized payment and shipping options alongside automated management tools, the platform seeks to establish a competitive presence in its new target markets.
