The Leap26 startup funding announcements reached 293 million dollars across 11 investment deals and venture capital funds on the third day of the tech conference in Riyadh. This milestone reflects growing investor activity in the Kingdom as local firms expand operations across regional and international markets, according to reporting by Asharq Al-Awsat.
Expanding Saudi venture capital market share
During his opening address, Assistant Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Sultan Al-Saeed stated that Saudi Arabia secured 45 percent of total venture capital funding in the Middle East and North Africa. This figure rose from 32 percent in 2024, supported by a 27-fold increase in startup financing since 2018.
The Kingdom led the regional venture market for the third consecutive year, capturing more than 37 percent of all regional transactions. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia now hosts nine unicorn startups, representing half of the total unicorn companies in the region, which strengthens its economy.
International expansion driven by Leap26 startup funding
New partnerships highlight the accelerating cross-border movement of local enterprises. Venture firm A16Z entered the Saudi market for the first time through a partnership with Stitch. Meanwhile, restaurant management platform Foodics grew to more than 40,000 branches while acquiring Greek firm Norma AI.
Customer engagement platform Unifonic also expanded its international operations through Segmentify. These movements show how Leap26 startup funding initiatives help domestic businesses scale beyond local borders.
Economic impact from research and cybersecurity solutions
Research initiatives delivered measurable commercial results across various sectors. For instance, an initial research investment of 3 million riyals (800,000 dollars) generated protective solutions to prevent an estimated 3.3 billion riyals (880 million dollars) in fraud, bolstering cybersecurity systems.
Dr. Al-Saeed highlighted that artificial intelligence firms attracted 258 billion dollars globally in 2025, which accounted for 61 percent of total global venture capital. Consequently, Saudi Arabia continues expanding its infrastructure with strategic investments exceeding 13 billion dollars in advanced computing systems and foundational models, driving new advancements in artificial intelligence.
Future outlook for Saudi entrepreneurship
The sustained momentum at the conference demonstrates an evolving tech sector focused on building proprietary technologies. The latest Leap26 startup funding rounds support ambitious founders who aim to deliver competitive services worldwide from day one.
