The newly established LG Robotics Center will consolidate the core capabilities of LG Electronics to support the commercialization of robotic technologies.

This organizational change, effective July 1, 2026, aims to accelerate the company’s development in physical artificial intelligence. CEO Lyu Jae-cheol will directly oversee the new organization to ensure rapid execution of its strategic goals.

Establishment of the LG Robotics Center

This off-cycle realignment occurs four months ahead of the company’s annual organizational restructuring. Consequently, the decision highlights the strategic focus of LG Electronics on expanding its presence in the global artificial intelligence market. The company aims to build a solid foundation for its future business growth through this early restructuring.

Organizational Structure and Leadership

Song Si-yong, who previously held leadership roles at the Production Engineering Research Institute of LG, will lead the new division. Specifically, the LG Robotics Center will operate as an end-to-end business unit covering development, sales, and manufacturing operations. This structure will allow the team to manage the entire lifecycle of its robotic products.

Data Factory and Model Training

Furthermore, the division will launch a dedicated data factory organization to support robot training. This initiative will use operational data to advance the Robot Foundation Model of the company. Notably, LG is building a large-scale data factory at its Yangjae R&D Campus in Seoul, with operations starting this year. This facility will collect high-quality data to improve robot capabilities.

Three-Pillar Market Strategy

The new governance structure aims to improve decision-making efficiency and cost competitiveness. As a self-contained business, the LG Robotics Center will integrate capabilities from affiliates like LG CNS and LG AI Research. This collaboration will help deliver unified solutions to clients and facilitate strategic partnerships with global technology leaders.

Meanwhile, the company will pursue a three-pillar strategy targeting industrial, commercial, and residential sectors. This approach combines the home robots of LG with the industrial capabilities of Robostar and the commercial expertise of Bear Robotics. As a result, the company will address diverse market demands across multiple industries.

Finally, the company has designated 2026 as the inaugural year of its robotics business expansion. To support future supply, LG is preparing to produce actuators domestically, utilizing its 60 years of motor technology expertise. This domestic production will strengthen the supply chain for its physical artificial intelligence solutions.
