According to an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, the newly appointed president of Microsoft Arabia, Ayman Al-Ghamdi, outlined these strategic goals.

Saudi Arabia has already established a strong regulatory framework for data and technology.

Notably, the Saudi Data and AI Authority has developed 32 regulatory tools for data and 13 tools for artificial intelligence.

To address this gap, the company is focusing on three main areas during the coming year.

First, the company is preparing to launch its Azure cloud region in the Eastern Province to provide a secure local infrastructure.

For instance, the O3ai platform developed by Obeikan Group serves as a practical example of smart factory systems.

Third, Microsoft has committed to helping 3 million people in Saudi Arabia acquire digital skills by 2030.

Meanwhile, Al-Ghamdi warned that rapid adoption of generative technology must not outpace data governance and security.

He noted that advanced tools cannot compensate for weak data foundations or fragmented business processes.

As a result, organizations must treat technology adoption as a business transformation rather than an isolated IT project.

Notably, some Saudi companies are already seeing measurable results from their technology investments.

For example, mining company Ma’aden saves over 2,200 hours monthly by using Microsoft 365 Copilot and Azure OpenAI Service.
