Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. and Nissan Motorsports & Customization Co. Ltd. (NMC) have unveiled comprehensive plans for Nissan NISMO expansion that will double the performance brand’s global model lineup and significantly increase production volumes through 2028. The strategy encompasses motorsports activities, product development, and heritage programs designed to strengthen Nissan’s overall brand power.

NISMO Lineup Set to Double with Increased Production Targets

Building on its current portfolio success, Nissan NISMO expansion aims to increase global model availability from five to ten vehicles. The company targets annual production growth from approximately 100,000 units to 150,000 units by 2028, with overseas sales expected to rise from 40% to 60% during this period.

Market availability will expand significantly as part of the initiative, with Nissan actively considering collaborations with external partners to enhance the NISMO business and deliver products that amplify driving excitement and performance capabilities.

Motorsports Technology Transfer Powers Performance Development

Following the “road to track, track to road” philosophy, Nissan continues leveraging technology and driving expertise from top-tier racing series including Super GT and Formula E. Insights and innovations developed through motorsports competition transfer directly into the NISMO car lineup, reinforcing performance credibility and emotional appeal.

Starting from fiscal year 2026, Nissan plans to introduce prototype vehicles specifically for racing activities to accelerate technological advancement in both hardware and software development, supporting future motorsports participation and lineup expansion.

  • Continued participation in Super GT and Formula E championships
  • Expansion into new racing categories including Super Taikyu
  • Introduction of racing prototype vehicles from 2026
  • Technology transfer from track to production vehicles

NISMO continues to elevate the excitement and innovation of Nissan vehicles. Moving forward, we aim to infuse our passion and driven excitement into Nissan’s other product lines.
