The PNU AI Center at the College of Computer and Information Sciences has supported more than 2,600 female students and researchers during the past academic year, according to SPA (Arabic). This initiative aims to support digital transformation and enable national talents in the field of artificial intelligence within Saudi Arabia.
During a year that coincided with the ‘Year of Artificial Intelligence’ designation, the center executed 10 research projects. In addition, it published two periodical newsletters containing approximately 11 technical articles. These publications highlight the center’s growing research and knowledge output.

Key Achievements of the PNU AI Center
The center’s contributions have supported several vital sectors through strategic partnerships. Specifically, it developed early prediction models for epilepsy seizures in cooperation with the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital. Furthermore, the center implemented the ‘Mohkam’ project for early legal warning in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing.
Collaborative Projects and Healthcare Applications
In addition, the center launched the ‘RafdSign’ project to convert voice into sign language. This project was developed under the Digital Government Authority initiative to enhance accessibility. These projects demonstrate how the center applies advanced technologies to solve real-world challenges in health and public services.
Specialized Training and the AIHUB Initiative
To build local capacity, the center executed 22 workshops and training programs. It also launched the ‘AIHUB’ initiative, which is designed to enhance the acquisition of technical knowledge, develop applied skills, and stimulate innovation. This initiative helps transform ideas into impactful projects.
Technical Tracks and Future Outlook
The center operates across six specialized tracks. These tracks include generative artificial intelligence and natural language processing, computer vision, gamification and the metaverse, health and bioinformatics, information security, and the Internet of Things (IoT). By focusing on these areas, the center ensures that Saudi researchers remain at the forefront of global technological developments.
To support these tracks, the center utilizes a system of advanced technologies. Notably, these include machine learning, deep learning, large language models, computer vision, reinforcement learning, predictive modeling, and health data analysis. Through these tools, the PNU AI Center continues to drive academic excellence and technological progress in the Kingdom.
