Saudi Arabia has approved new gaming and esports funding totaling approximately $112 million through the National Development Fund. This capital deployment directly supports the Kingdom’s expanding interactive entertainment sector in line with national economic diversification targets.

The financing initiative recorded its progress through the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, benefiting 82 distinct entities across the industry value chain. In addition, the program supported the development of more than 127 games to help domestic studios compete internationally, according to reporting by SportsTiger.

Allocation of gaming and esports funding

Financing packages are disbursed through dedicated financial products established in partnership with the Social Development Bank, with lending ceilings determined by enterprise size. The deployment of gaming and esports funding operates alongside earlier equity venture capital initiatives totaling $120 million, as well as strategic alliances with Merak Capital and Savvy Games Group.

“The report shows progress in building a specialized financing system for the sector.”

Economic Targets for the Digital Industry

Government planners project the sector to contribute more than SR50 billion to the national economy by 2030. Furthermore, state initiatives target the creation of over 39,000 jobs across game development, publishing networks, and supporting technical infrastructure.

The strategy also establishes concrete production milestones for domestic software creators. Officials plan to host 250 operational game development companies in the country, while aiming to position over 30 Saudi-produced titles among the top 300 global releases.

Market Growth and Long-Term Value

Data released by the Saudi Intellectual Property Authority indicates that the domestic gaming market reached a valuation of $2.19 billion in 2024. Industry projections show the national market expanding beyond $4.73 billion by 2033.

Consequently, targeted capital enables early-stage studios to procure high-end computing equipment and build production pipelines. The initiative also coordinates specialized education programs to train local developers and technical specialists for commercial production.

Broader Industry Transformation

Through structured financing mechanisms, the country continues its transition from a regional consumer base into an active digital producer. This long-term strategy ensures sustainable gaming and esports funding models capable of establishing domestic studios in competitive global markets.
