The ICT market in Saudi Arabia has become the largest and fastest-growing in the Middle East region. The sector’s expansion has strengthened the digital economy as a fundamental contributor to gross domestic product, driven by robust investment environments and the transition toward knowledge-based economic growth.
Digital Infrastructure Expansion
Internet coverage now extends to all residential areas across the Kingdom, with ongoing expansion of fiber optic networks to homes. The deployment has resulted in record speeds for both fixed and mobile internet services. Saudi Arabia maintains leadership among Group of Twenty countries in total frequency spectrum allocation for mobile communications services, underscoring efficient use of wireless networks.
Space Sector Leadership
The Kingdom became the first country globally to successfully test Seamless D2D Connectivity for direct smartphone communication via satellites. The Communications, Space and Technology Commission launched the first national Earth Observation data market, enabling key sectors to access artificial intelligence-powered image analytics for agricultural monitoring, ecosystem tracking, and environmental management.
Regulatory Innovation and Sustainability
Saudi Arabia advanced digital innovation through its regulatory sandbox environment, which saw increased product launches and participant growth. The Kingdom deployed regulatory technology solutions that reduced document approval timelines. Environmental initiatives include eco-friendly telecommunications towers powered entirely by clean energy, alongside the “Dawwir Jihazak” national electronics waste reduction program.
The Kingdom implements fifth-generation and Internet of Things technologies for remote healthcare automation, precise agricultural monitoring, and ecosystem protection. These systems are supported by sovereign data security centers and cloud computing infrastructure ensuring secure digital sustainability.
Global Recognition and Rankings
Saudi Arabia secured leading positions in international benchmarks including the Digital Readiness Index and the ICT Development Index. The Kingdom ranks second globally in the Digital Regulatory Maturity Index, demonstrating readiness for accelerating digital transformation with operational efficiency and institutional confidence.
