The AI Center of Excellence initiative officially launched during the LEAP 2026 conference in Riyadh to accelerate advanced technology adoption across the Kingdom. Several government and international entities collaborated to establish the program, according to SPA (English). The project focuses directly on preparing national workers for changing workforce demands.
Objectives of the AI Center of Excellence
The AI Center of Excellence aims to equip workers in the Saudi labor market with essential technical capabilities. By aligning workforce skills with future technological requirements, the project supports the broader targets of Saudi Vision 2030. Furthermore, the initiative seeks to increase productivity across diverse commercial fields through targeted digital applications.
Participants emphasize converting artificial intelligence solutions into practical tools that generate measurable economic value. Consequently, public and private organizations intend to expand practical use cases across vital industrial sectors.
Collaborative Framework and Stakeholders
The project represents a joint effort led by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development through the Digital Sector Skills Council. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology also joined the partnership alongside Microsoft and Gulf Intelligence. Together, these entities combine public sector coordination with private technology expertise.
Moreover, this cross-sector alliance facilitates knowledge exchange to upgrade technological infrastructure and data management systems. The combined expertise helps maintain Saudi Arabia’s competitive standing in technical innovation and talent development.
Knowledge Outputs and Strategic Dialogue
The initiative features several structured activities designed to explore practical deployment models. Specifically, organizers prepared three analytical working papers examining the future of intelligent systems and their commercial effects on the national economy.
In addition, the event hosted specialized dialogue sessions featuring industry executives, technical specialists, and government decision-makers. These panels reviewed key topics including talent integration, national competitiveness, and operational transitions from theoretical testing to actual field deployment.
Role of Sector Skills Councils
The Digital Sector Skills Council operates as a dedicated program under the human resources ministry to develop human capital. This council identifies emerging occupational requirements and builds standardized professional benchmarks across industries through targeted training programs.
Through the AI Center of Excellence, the council plans to outline clear career development tracks and training strategies. These ongoing efforts ensure the national workforce adapts efficiently to accelerated market transformations.
