The dual launch strengthens the chipmaker’s portfolio in the mainstream and entry-level segments of the smartphone market.
Both platforms introduce Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI, a feature set aimed at reducing lag and improving the fluidity of everyday device interactions. This addition addresses common performance bottlenecks that users experience in day-to-day smartphone usage.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Performance Metrics
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 delivers 20% faster app launches compared to its predecessor, while screen stutter decreases by 18%. The processor pairs four performance cores running at up to 2.6GHz with four efficiency cores at up to 2GHz, balancing speed and power consumption for extended battery life.
Display support reaches FHD+ at up to 144Hz refresh rates, accommodating the gaming and media consumption demands of mainstream users. Camera capabilities extend to 200MP, while connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 standards.

AI night vision makes its debut in the Snapdragon 6 series, enabling improved low-light photography without requiring specialized hardware. The Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0 sustains smooth gameplay during extended sessions, backed by a GPU that is 21% more powerful than the previous generation.
These improvements target users who prioritize visual fidelity and responsiveness in gaming and content creation applications. Devices featuring Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 will come from manufacturers including Honor and Redmi.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Capabilities
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 represents a more substantial upgrade within its segment, posting 43% faster app launches and 25% less stutter than its predecessor. The processor features a 2+6 core configuration with two performance cores at up to 2.4GHz and six efficiency cores at up to 2GHz.
GPU performance jumps 77% over the previous generation, enabling the first Snapdragon 4 series chip to support 90FPS gameplay. The platform supports FHD+ displays at up to 144Hz, cameras up to 108MP, and sub-6GHz 5G connectivity alongside Wi-Fi 5.
Connectivity and Dual SIM Features
A notable addition to Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is SIM Dual Active connectivity, which enables simultaneous 5G and 4G network connections across different SIM cards. This capability allows users to maintain persistent connectivity on multiple networks without switching between them manually.
Oppo, Realme, and Redmi will be the first manufacturers to integrate Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 into their device lineups. The broader industry adoption signals manufacturer confidence in the platform’s ability to compete in competitive market segments.
