Startup Gate, the digital platform supporting Egypt’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, has announced the launch of Phase Two of its platform on January 6, 2026. This significant milestone marks a transformative step toward enhancing efficiency, connectivity, and collaboration across Egypt’s startup landscape, while fostering a more inclusive and integrated environment for all stakeholders including entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, and support organizations.
The launch builds on the remarkable success of the platform’s first phase, which contributed to the development of a diverse community of startups across multiple sectors, alongside mentors, investors, and ecosystem partners. Founded by Egyptian entrepreneurs Emmy Tawfik and Sarah Khalifa with backing from the M-Empire angel investor network, the platform addresses a critical gap in the Egyptian market where fragmentation and scattered information have long hindered collaboration opportunities.
Impressive Phase One Results and Growth Trajectory
Since its launch in October 2025, Phase One focused on startups, mentors, and investors, attracting more than 750 participants across these categories. The platform’s inclusive approach welcomes startups from idea stage through growth stage across diverse sectors including fintech, healthtech, edtech, e-commerce, and supply chain. Total membership is projected to reach 3,000 users by the end of 2026, demonstrating strong market demand and ecosystem engagement.
The platform maintains rigorous quality standards by reviewing all startups, mentors, and opportunities before making them available, ensuring a credible and value-driven ecosystem that entrepreneurs can trust. This careful curation process distinguishes the platform from other directories and establishes it as a reliable gateway for Egypt’s startup community.
Startup Gate Expands Scope with Strategic Partnerships
Phase Two significantly expands the platform’s scope to include entrepreneurship support organizations such as incubators and accelerators, service providers, and investment institutions. This expansion aims to connect a larger number of ecosystem stakeholders more effectively while strengthening collaboration between startups, investors, and mentors.
“From day one, our goal has been to build a true gateway that allows entrepreneurs to access what they need without complexity or fragmentation. Phase Two represents a pivotal step toward a more connected ecosystem—where opportunities are clearer, collaboration is easier, and support is more impactful.”
Emmy Tawfik, Founder and CEO of Startup Gate
“We believe the strength of any entrepreneurship ecosystem lies not in the number of initiatives, but in the quality of the connections between them. Through Phase Two of Startup Gate, we are creating a central anchor point that brings all stakeholders together and supports the sustainable growth of Egyptian startups.”
Sara Khalifa, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer
Nine Specialized Accelerator Programs and Major Investment Opportunities
Throughout 2026, nine specialized accelerator programs will be launched in partnership with StartupEgypt, a leading non-governmental organization supporting entrepreneurship in Egypt. These programs will be led by major corporations and sector-focused startups across different sectors including FinTech, EduTech, Healthtech, and Logistics, enabling participating startups to benefit from structured mentorship, business development support, growth acceleration, and access to funding.
Through the M-Empire angel investor network, participating startups are expected to attract investments totaling approximately EGP 450 million, representing a substantial injection of capital into Egypt’s startup ecosystem. The platform is also expanding its mentor network to include specialized experts from Egypt and abroad, and plans to join an international network to adopt the mentorship methodology developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Future Outlook and Community Engagement
Since its launch, the platform has participated as a partner in several entrepreneurship-focused events and summits, and has organized online webinars to support founders and facilitate knowledge sharing. With Phase Two, the platform plans to expand these activities and strengthen partnerships with private and public-sector entities, with further announcements expected throughout 2026. This commitment to building genuine and long-term collaboration among all stakeholders positions the platform as a central hub for Egypt’s entrepreneurial future.
