The Tawakkalna application recorded an average of more than 4.4 billion transactions and 13.3 million active users per month during the past six months, according to Saudi Gazette.
The official figures were presented at the LEAP 26 conference in Riyadh during a joint panel discussion. The session brought together Dr. Esam Alwagait, director of the National Information Center at the Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), and Eng. Ahmed Alsuwaiyan, governor of the Digital Government Authority (DGA).
Expansion of the Tawakkalna Application
The national platform currently integrates services from 62 government entities across Saudi Arabia. Consequently, users can access more than 1,700 public services directly through mobile apps without visiting physical offices.
Alsuwaiyan stated that the true value of this integration goes beyond aggregating services onto a single platform. He noted that standardized technical criteria and national digital infrastructure reduce overall government spending while improving efficiency.
Implementation of Smart Assistant Technology
To support users, authorities introduced the pilot phase of the Shamel smart assistant. The virtual assistant uses artificial intelligence to guide citizens and residents toward specific procedures based on their immediate requirements.
“This reflects the extent of reliance on the platform and the maturity of the data infrastructure in the Kingdom.”
Dr. Esam Alwagait, Director of the National Information Center
Officials stated that the intelligent assistant shifts the user experience from manual searching to proactive service delivery. In addition, user data remains protected under strict national cybersecurity protocols.
Strategic Roadmap Toward 2030 Objectives
Looking ahead, Alwagait outlined key operational targets set for the end of the decade. Saudi Arabia aims to achieve zero paper usage and zero duplication of records across all state departments.
Furthermore, authorities plan to reach nearly 100 percent in proactive service delivery by 2030. Under this model, beneficiaries receive documents and routine approvals automatically without submitting repetitive paperwork.
Government Operational Impact
The ongoing development of the Tawakkalna application marks a structural change in public administration across the country. Government agencies now prioritize direct beneficiary needs rather than fragmented departmental workflows.
As digital adoption expands, Saudi Arabia continues to track higher marks in international digital government indices, supported by unified digital platforms and automated public sector infrastructure.
