Vertiv introduced the Vertiv KVM Switch platform MergePoint Unity 2 on February 24, 2026, targeting enterprise data centers and edge computing environments. The keyboard, video, and mouse switch provides centralized management capabilities for IT infrastructure across distributed locations.
The company stated the platform addresses infrastructure management complexity as organizations distribute workloads across multiple sites. The switch enables remote diagnosis, configuration, and system recovery while protecting against unverified firmware and software.
Security and Authentication Features
The Vertiv KVM Switch meets FIPS 140-3 cryptographic standards for government and enterprise deployments. The platform supports smart card and Common Access Card authentication with user-permission controls. IT teams gain consolidated infrastructure visibility without requiring multiple tools or site visits.

Built-in Virtual Media capabilities allow users to remotely mount drives for software installations, reducing downtime during updates. The platform provides remote access to UEFI and BIOS firmware interfaces for system updates and hardware troubleshooting. Both local and remote users access the system through a browser-based interface, while local hotkey support enables rapid task execution at the rack level.
Hardware Design and Integration
The switch features a compact design that fits within a single rack unit when paired with the Vertiv Avocent Local Rack Access Console. Organizations can manage the device through a built-in web interface for standalone applications. Alternatively, the switch integrates with the Vertiv Avocent MP1000 Management Platform as part of the DSView Solution for enterprise-wide control.
