Stablecoin payments travel bookings are now available through Wego, the largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), following a partnership with Triple-A, a global payment institution. The integration launched on May 19, 2026, and expands payment flexibility for travelers globally.
Through the partnership, travelers can complete flight and travel service bookings using supported stablecoins. Wego continues to receive settlement in traditional local currencies, streamlining operations. The collaboration reflects growing demand for flexible payment methods, particularly in cross-border transactions where traditional options prove less efficient or accessible.
How Stablecoin Payments Work in Travel Bookings
The stablecoin payments travel integration manages conversion, compliance, and payment flow through Triple-A’s infrastructure. Travelers in markets with limited credit card access or higher international transaction decline rates gain an alternative payment method. The system is designed to improve booking completion rates while maintaining the simplicity expected from the Wego platform.
Travel’s inherently cross-border nature makes it a practical use case for stablecoin and cryptocurrency adoption. Stablecoins are increasingly used for real-world payments in markets where international transactions face complexity or where users seek flexible value management options.
Triple-A’s Payment Infrastructure and Compliance
Triple-A operates as a global payment institution licensed in the United States, Europe, and Singapore. The company works with over 1,000 enterprise customers worldwide and reaches more than 700 million digital currency owners. The partnership demonstrates compliance with international Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) standards.
Triple-A is registered with the United States Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), and operates under Banque de France’s ACPR oversight in Europe. The company’s existing client portfolio includes businesses such as Razer, Farfetch, Alternative Airlines, and Grab.
Market Demand and Payment Evolution
Mamoun Hmidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego, stated: “Travel is inherently global, but the payment experience does not always reflect that. By enabling digital currency payments through our partnership with Triple-A, we are giving travelers more flexibility in how they pay for flights and travel services, especially in cross-border scenarios where traditional payment options may be less efficient or less accessible.”
“As traveler expectations evolve, payments need to become more seamless, borderless, and adaptable to different user preferences. Integrating digital currency payments through Triple-A allows us to offer greater flexibility while maintaining the simplicity and reliability travelers expect from Wego.”
Alexandre Morin, Director Payments, Risk & Fintech, Wego
Eric Barbier, founder and CEO of Triple-A, added: “Stablecoins are becoming an increasingly practical way for consumers to pay globally, particularly in sectors like travel where cross-border transactions are common. Our partnership with Wego helps make that experience more seamless, allowing travelers to use digital assets for real-world bookings while enabling Wego to settle in local currency.”
