The Yamaha WXA-70A streaming amplifier and WXC-70A streamer have been introduced by Yamaha Corporation to bring high-resolution audio to compact home entertainment systems. Both models are engineered to fit into modern living spaces while providing dedicated audio processing and streaming capabilities.
The two components are built around an ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M digital-to-analog converter (DAC). Yamaha incorporated a proprietary DAC on Pure Ground (D.O.P.G.) circuit layout to isolate analog audio signals from noise. Additionally, an asynchronous sample rate converter (ASRC) rebuilds clock timing before digital signals reach the DAC, reducing jitter from connected smart devices and televisions.
Amplification Power of Yamaha WXA-70A
Equipped with ICEPower Class D amplification, the Yamaha WXA-70A delivers 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 105 watts per channel into 4 ohms across the 20Hz to 20kHz frequency range at 1% total harmonic distortion. In contrast, the WXC-70A functions as a dedicated preamplifier and network streamer with both analog and digital outputs for existing sound systems.
Both units feature rigid aluminum enclosures reinforced with center bars and internal damping materials. This mechanical structure reduces unwanted vibrations that could affect sound clarity during playback.
Room Calibration and Connectivity
Yamaha integrated its proprietary YPAO acoustic optimizer into both devices. The system uses an included calibration microphone to measure the listening environment and automatically adjust acoustic parameters to suit room dimensions and speaker placement.
For home entertainment integration, both models feature an HDMI eARC port that enables volume control via TV remotes. A dedicated Dialogue Level control function improves vocal clarity across movies, broadcasts, and gaming content without requiring an increase in master volume.
Multi-Room Streaming and Smart Integration
Wireless streaming is managed through Yamaha’s MusicCast platform, which supports AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and Roon Ready. Dedicated mobile apps allow users to manage multi-room audio groups and playback settings.
For professional smart home installations, the units support Control4 home automation, web browser setup, 12V triggers, and dedicated IR inputs. Installers can also disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth independently to maintain network stability.
Pricing and Market Availability
For pricing, the Yamaha WXA-70A is set at $1,300 (£1,199 / AU$1,999), while the WXC-70A streamer will retail for $1,000 (£859 / AU$1,599). Yamaha confirmed that both models will become available globally in November.
