Apple has announced its upcoming Apple software updates scheduled for release this fall, bringing new features to its services.
Users will receive enhancements across applications including Maps, Find My, and Wallet. Notably, these changes aim to improve daily usability and navigation.
Enhanced Navigation in Apple Maps
Apple Maps will introduce an enhanced Flyover experience that combines aerial imagery with artificial intelligence to show select cities in detail. Additionally, users in the United States can access Local Lists to find trending dining and meeting spots. These curated collections are generated with user privacy in mind.
New Capabilities in Apple software updates
The upcoming releases will introduce several functional changes across the device lineup. For instance, Apple Cash users can use Visual Intelligence to split restaurant bills by scanning receipts with their iPhone camera. This tool automatically calculates individual shares, including taxes and tips.
In addition, users can create and store digital passes in Apple Wallet from physical barcode cards. This process can be completed by pointing the camera at a physical card or uploading a screenshot.
“We are bringing powerful new features and intelligence to hundreds of millions of users across Apple services, making their experiences even more useful.”
Eddy Cue, Apple Senior Vice President of Services
Location Sharing and Wallet Upgrades
The Find My service will offer flexible location sharing options within the new Apple software updates. Users can share their location for specific minutes, hours, or days, or set a precise expiration time. Meanwhile, a new unified Find My app on smart devices like the Apple Watch will replace separate tracking apps.
Apple Pay is also receiving an updated checkout design for online and in-app purchases. This interface allows users to swipe between cards and view rewards balances or debit accounts. Later this year, users can add funds to debit cards directly during checkout.
Podcasts and Entertainment Expansion
Furthermore, the Apple software updates will expand video podcast support to macOS and tvOS. The Mac version will support Picture in Picture, allowing users to watch episodes while multitasking. Additionally, Apple Music will expand its Lyrics Translation and Lyrics Pronunciation features to new language pairings.
Finally, Apple Fitness+ will introduce a progressive three-week program called Strong Through Menopause. This program features weekly yoga and strength workouts designed to build mobility, improve balance, and reduce stress. The updates will enter public beta next month before the official fall release.
