Apple has raised the monthly cost of its Apple TV subscription to $14.99, marking the fourth price adjustment for the streaming service in four years. The price adjustments affect both new sign-ups and existing members across standard and bundled service tiers immediately.
Details of the Apple TV Subscription Hike
Under the revised pricing schedule, the monthly fee for the streaming tier increases from $12.99 to $14.99. In addition, the annual Apple TV subscription now costs $119 per year, up from the previous rate of $99. According to reporting by TechCrunch, current subscribers will see the updated billing reflected on their next payment cycle after receiving official notification directly from the company.
The price update comes several weeks after rate revisions were introduced for Apple Music. The platform recently released the fourth season of Ted Lasso while continuing to build out its catalog of live sports coverage, which includes broadcasting rights for Formula 1, Major League Baseball, and Major League Soccer.
Impact on Apple One Bundles
Alongside the standalone streaming changes, the company adjusted pricing for its bundled digital offerings. The individual Apple One plan, which combines Apple TV with iCloud+, Apple Music, and Apple Arcade apps, increases from $19.95 per month to $21.95 per month.
Consequently, existing customers with an active Apple TV subscription inside the package will experience a $2 monthly increase across their overall software billing, reflecting the higher valuation placed on individual component services within the bundle.
Market Context and Streaming Trends
This pricing adjustment mirrors broader patterns across the digital streaming economy. Competitors have implemented comparable adjustments in recent months, with Netflix updating its subscription fees in March and Peacock introducing higher subscription rates earlier in August.
Entertainment providers across the market continue to reassess their recurring membership structures in response to rising content production costs and expensive sports licensing agreements throughout the industry.
Hardware Costs and Upcoming Product Launches
Beyond entertainment services, technology enterprises are managing rising hardware manufacturing costs, driven by ongoing shortages in memory components and increased demand for data center infrastructure supporting artificial intelligence systems. In response to these pressures, Apple previously raised prices across select physical devices earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the company is preparing for its scheduled hardware event on September 9, where it will present its latest lineup of mobile devices, including expected updates to the iPhone portfolio as it continues to expand its broader ecosystem of digital platforms and hardware products.
