French companies EODev and Baudouin have entered a partnership to launch industrial electricity solutions based on solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology for distributed power generation.
The companies plan to officially launch the new product offering in September 2026. Consequently, this collaboration aims to address the growing electricity demands of critical infrastructure.
Addressing Grid Limitations
Operators of data centers, industrial facilities, and critical infrastructure across Europe face challenges in securing continuous power. Specifically, grid capacity limitations and long connection wait times restrict operational stability. Meanwhile, traditional backup systems often rely on combustion technologies that produce high emissions.
To resolve these issues, facilities require local, continuous electricity generation to complement renewable sources. Therefore, the new partnership focuses on delivering reliable, low-emission power directly at the point of consumption.
Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Technology
The SOFC systems convert natural gas, renewable gases, or hydrogen directly into electricity through an electrochemical reaction. Notably, this process achieves high electrical efficiency with minimal carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, the systems operate quietly and produce virtually no air pollutants compared to combustion-based generators.
The waste heat from the electrochemical reaction can also be recovered. As a result, operators can use this heat for combined heat and power applications, further increasing overall efficiency.
Modular Distributed Power Generation Systems
The integration of SOFC technology adds a continuous base load option to the existing distributed power generation portfolio. Each modular system provides a capacity of 600 kW. Furthermore, operators can combine multiple units to meet power requirements reaching several megawatts.

Partnership Rollout and Distribution
Under the agreement, EODev will integrate Baudouin’s SOFC solutions across Europe. Specifically, EODev holds exclusive distribution rights in France and Poland, while also pursuing international market opportunities.
The technology is currently undergoing field validation through several pilot projects. Consequently, commercial launch is scheduled for September 2026, with initial customer deliveries expected in the first quarter of 2027.
Moteurs Baudouin, based in Cassis, France, has designed and manufactured marine diesel engines for over 100 years. The company has expanded its expertise to provide power solutions for main and standby applications in over 100 countries. Meanwhile, EODev specializes in high-performance industrial energy generation and storage solutions using hydrogen and battery technologies. The partnership combines Baudouin’s manufacturing capabilities with EODev’s expertise in distributed power generation systems.
