Google Launches Gemini Memory Import Tool for Arab World Users

Gemini memory import is now available across the Arab world, Google said on March 27, 2026, allowing users to transfer preferences, personal context, and full chat history from other artificial intelligence applications directly into Gemini.

The feature targets users who have built up context in competing AI platforms. Moreover, it removes the need to manually re-enter personal preferences when switching to Gemini.

How Gemini Memory Import Works

To use the Gemini memory import feature, users navigate to Settings and select the new import option. The app then provides a suggested prompt to copy and paste into the other AI application.

Once the other app generates a preference summary, users copy that response and paste it back into Gemini. Gemini then analyzes the information and saves those details securely to the user’s Gemini context.

Chat History Transfer via ZIP File

In addition to memory import, Google has added a full chat history transfer option. Users upload a ZIP file exported from another AI provider’s settings, which may take several hours to generate.

After uploading, users can search past conversation threads and continue building on them inside Gemini. The feature supports seamless continuity across platforms, Google stated.

Personal Intelligence Integration

The memory import feature connects with Gemini’s Personal Intelligence capability. This system draws relevant insights from Gmail, Google Photos, Search history, and past Gemini chats when users grant access to those apps.

Consequently, imported memories and chat history feed into a broader personalization layer. The result is a more contextually aware assistant that reflects the user’s established preferences from day one.

Availability and Rollout Timeline

The Gemini memory import tool is currently available on the web across the Arab world. Google said the mobile devices rollout will follow within the next few days.

The launch positions Gemini more competitively in a market where users have accumulated significant context in other AI platforms. Furthermore, the low-friction import process reduces a key barrier to switching AI assistants.
