GWM (Great Wall Motor) has officially revealed its latest technology and product lineup at Auto China 2026 in Beijing on May 11, 2026, anchored by the global debut of the GWM ONE S platform. The company showcased vehicles and powertrains designed for markets including the Middle East, where HAVAL and TANK lead current growth while ORA and Wey prepare for regional launches.

The GWM ONE S Platform Architecture

The GWM ONE S (Gui Yuan) platform, launched in January 2026, represents an evolution of GWM’s modular automotive architecture. The platform’s core approach supports five powertrain types from a single base: plug-in hybrid, hybrid, battery electric, hydrogen, and internal combustion. The design is built on three foundational innovations: Atomised Hardware, Tagged Software, and an AI-native architecture.

The platform enables the PHEV variant to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds with a combined range of 1,377 km. The battery electric variant uses a 900V architecture to achieve 80 percent charge in 10 minutes and offers a range exceeding 660 km. These capabilities directly benefit Middle East vehicles by providing longer range, faster charging, and greater reliability under extreme heat conditions.

Engine and Transmission Technology

GWM introduced the 4.0T V8 engine with a traditional 90-degree V-angle design for natural balance and reduced vibration. Twin turbochargers and a front-mounted water-cooled intercooler are integrated within the V-angle for a compact layout. The engine incorporates a 350-bar high-pressure plus 5.5-bar port fuel injection dual system, a full-map oil pump, and Miller cycle technology to improve efficiency and cold-start performance.

The 9DCT transmission is a compact 9-speed unit with one reverse gear and 400 Nm torque capacity. Its design includes an electronic module that reduces external parts, a hydraulic module 40 mm thinner than conventional designs, and a new high-load synchronizer with extended lifespan. The system delivers fast shifting and supports multiple hybrid configurations while maintaining reliability under frequent start-stop conditions. The compact design improves efficiency by 2 percent through reduced torque loss.

AI Integration and Safety Systems

Beyond powertrains, GWM’s Auto China 2026 stand highlighted proprietary artificial intelligence and safety technologies. Coffee Pilot 3 driving assistance and Coffee OS 3 cockpit system bring scenario-based autonomous driving and connected experiences to models destined for global markets, including the Middle East. The company also developed battery cells across ternary, LFP, and semi-solid-state chemistries, plus a 100 kW hydrogen fuel cell system achieving 61 percent efficiency.

Visitors experienced a 110-metre extreme off-road course and exhibits from Asia’s largest multi-angle crash laboratory, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to safety and durability under real-world conditions. GWM also showcased a 2.0T high-efficiency dedicated hybrid engine and advanced battery management systems.

Global Reach and Regional Strategy

GWM serves over 16 million customers worldwide, supported by a 1,500-strong overseas sales network and total overseas sales exceeding 2 million units. The Middle East remains a priority market, with HAVAL, TANK, and POER leading current momentum. Wey and ORA are positioned to add a lifestyle-driven dimension to the brand portfolio in the region.

Sunny Bhat, Sales and Marketing Director for GWM Middle East, stated that the vehicles unveiled at Auto China 2026 have been engineered with global ambition and versatility to perform in the Middle East environment. He noted that the new model launches and technologies like the GWM ONE S platform and Hi4-T and Hi4-Z intelligent hybrid four-wheel-drive systems directly address regional customer priorities including performance, durability, efficiency, and intelligence.

Wei Jianjun, Chairman of GWM, has emphasized the company’s philosophy of delivering trust through quality, communicating trust through compliance, and building trust through action. For Middle East customers, Auto China 2026 signals that GWM’s technology, design, and automotive strategy are being brought closer to regional markets through its brand lineup.
