Healthcare technology manager certification pathways are set to expand in Saudi Arabia to support the development of specialized medical engineering talent. First Gulf Company (FGC) and the Biomedical Engineering Technology Society (BMET) will establish this new educational route to enhance local capabilities in the health-tech sector.
The two organizations will formalize their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday, August 23, 2026. This agreement will officially introduce the Certified Healthcare Technology Manager (CHTM) program to the Kingdom’s professional landscape.
Global Standards for Medical Equipment Management
The CHTM credential is awarded internationally by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). It validates the technical and administrative expertise required to manage the complex systems and medical equipment that clinical teams rely on daily. Notably, this initiative makes the global standard accessible to local professionals for the first time.
BMET, which is accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), will deliver the training program. This partnership ensures that every participating healthcare technology manager receives instruction that aligns with both international benchmarks and local regulatory requirements.
Aligning with Saudi Vision 2030
The introduction of this pathway aligns with the broader goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes the development of national talent and the modernization of public services. FGC is funding the initiative as part of an investment in its Facility Management Division teams. Consequently, Saudi engineers will participate in this specific professional development track for the first time.
By raising the standards of equipment maintenance, the program aims to improve the overall reliability of medical devices in hospitals. Furthermore, better management of these technologies directly supports the quality of care provided to patients across Saudi Arabia’s growing economy.
