HONOR imaging technology has received a major update with the introduction of the AiMAGE chip-device-cloud imaging engine. This development was announced at a launch event in Hengdian, China, on July 30, 2026. During the event, the company also announced a joint imaging technology lab with ARRI. This partnership aims to bring professional cinema workflows to mobile devices.
The collaboration aims to integrate professional color science directly into the HONOR Robot Phone. Specifically, the integration includes ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3, and ARRI Looks. Consequently, mobile creators can access tools that preserve more brightness and color information for post-production.
The Optics-Intelligence Evolution Strategy
This strategy is based on the principle that physical optics define the foundation of image quality, while intelligence raises the creative ceiling. Therefore, the company is focusing on a complete system across image capture, AI-powered processing, and color science. This approach moves away from a simple focus on camera hardware specifications.

HONOR imaging technology and the AiMAGE Engine
The newly introduced engine connects the full imaging chain from physical capture to intelligent creation. On the chip side, the company is developing a self-developed Transformer-based native artificial intelligence ISP. This works alongside a next-generation pixel array and EVS sensor technology to improve original image capture.
On the device side, the system combines physical hardware with real-time algorithms, including a titanium alloy three-axis gimbal. Meanwhile, the cloud side expands capabilities through RAW-domain image enhancement and spatial imaging tools. These cloud-based features help bypass device-side computing limits for mobile devices.
Integrating ARRI Cinema Workflows
Through this strategic technology cooperation, the companies are bringing professional cinema color standards to mobile creation. Notably, the joint imaging technology lab will focus on sensor-level optics, dynamic range, and end-to-end cinema workflows. This research aims to establish aesthetic standards in the AI era.

Real-World Testing by Filmmakers
To demonstrate these capabilities, Academy Award winner Claudio Miranda used the HONOR Robot Phone to recreate a cinematic scene. Additionally, cinematographer Wang Boxue shot a short film in a confined one-shot scenario. These tests showed how the compact form factor supports professional post-production workflows.
Furthermore, the company announced the judging panel for the HONOR Magic Stories Awards 2026. This global mobile imaging competition encourages expressive storytelling. In addition, the company introduced a 48-Hour Extreme Filmmaking Challenge at Hengdian World Studios to test the HONOR imaging technology under demanding conditions.
