Reports indicate that the upcoming iOS 27 update will introduce a redesigned Siri interface alongside new artificial intelligence features.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman published details of the software, which places the digital assistant at the center of the user experience. This development follows previous delays in the deployment of Apple Intelligence features.
Siri Redesign in the iOS 27 update
The digital assistant will reside primarily in the Dynamic Island, displaying a pill-shaped animation when activated. Users can swipe on the results card to access a conversation mode that resembles an iMessage chat. Additionally, a standalone Siri application will offer a chat history list and support file uploads.
Apple plans to use a custom version of Google’s Gemini AI to power some of these features. Furthermore, the company is considering options to let users access other services like ChatGPT and Claude. Consequently, this integration aims to make the assistant more context-aware across the operating system. This strategy allows the assistant to search the web and draw on personal information to complete tasks.
Customizable Camera Interface
The Camera app will receive a customizable layout, allowing users to arrange controls as widgets at the top of the screen. Specifically, these widgets will include manual settings, flash, exposure, and depth of field. Meanwhile, a dedicated Siri mode will replace the current Visual Intelligence experience for object analysis.
Photos App AI Editing Tools
The Photos application will introduce new tools named Reframe and Extend to modify image perspectives. Specifically, the Extend tool will use artificial intelligence to generate additional portions of an image. Moreover, Apple is testing natural language prompt-based editing to allow voice-controlled adjustments. However, this specific voice-editing feature might not arrive in the initial release of the software.
