Lexus announced the launch of the eighth-generation Lexus ES in the Middle East, introducing both hybrid and fully electric powertrain options. The midsize executive sedan, originally debuted in 1989, incorporates significant structural updates, advanced driver-assistance features, and new design elements.
Lexus ES Powertrains and Platform Engineering
The updated model line features two primary electrified propulsion setups. The ES 350h uses an updated 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder hybrid system with an integrated eAxle that houses the power control unit and transaxle in a compact housing, available with all-wheel drive. Meanwhile, the fully electric ES 500e features a battery pack positioned beneath the floor structure paired with an all-wheel-drive system.
Both variants rely on a redesigned TNGA GA-K platform that provides higher structural rigidity to reduce chassis vibrations and manage cornering forces in modern automotive engineering. The electric ES 500e integrates the Lexus DIRECT4 force control system, which dynamically distributes torque between the front and rear axles based on wheel speed, acceleration rates, and steering inputs.

Interior Dimensions and Cabin Technology
The eighth-generation Lexus ES measures 165 mm longer than its predecessor, with the wheelbase extended by 80 mm to increase rear-seat legroom. A revised front-seat design separates standard upholstery components into a thinner profile that maintains structural support while improving cabin space efficiency.
The vehicle interior incorporates a 14-inch Display Audio multimedia system and introduces physical Responsive Hidden Switches into the steering wheel and instrument panel. These controls remain invisible until a hand approaches the surface, at which point backlighting activates to present the available tactile functions without cluttering the console, complementing the vehicle’s smart devices ecosystem.
Driver Assistance and Safety Features
Standard driver assistance is managed through the Lexus Safety System+ 4 suite. The system includes an upgraded Pre-Collision System with wider intersection monitoring, updated Radar Cruise Control for natural deceleration adjustments, and an enhanced Lane Change Assist. In addition, the Panoramic View Monitor now provides a 3D View mode that allows drivers to pan around the vehicle using screen swipes.
Market Availability in the Region
The new sedan provides customers across the region with seven exterior color choices, including a newly formulated SOU finish. Middle East deliveries will encompass both hybrid electric configurations and the all-electric ES 500e variant across authorized regional dealerships.
