The Lucid Gravity SUV has been named the 2026 World Luxury Car of the Year by the World Car Awards program, beating out electric, hybrid, and internal-combustion competitors judged by a panel of more than 100 automotive journalists worldwide. The announcement was made on April 6, 2026, from Riyadh.

This marks the second consecutive win for Lucid Group in this category. The Lucid Air sedan previously took the same title in 2023, making Lucid the only automaker to win the World Luxury Car of the Year award twice in a row.

What the Award Means for Lucid

Marc Winterhoff, Interim CEO of Lucid, said the recognition reflects the strength of the company’s product vision and the execution of its engineering team. “Lucid Gravity brings together the space and versatility of a full-size SUV with sportscar-like driving dynamics and a refined luxury experience, enabled by our proprietary technology and engineering,” Winterhoff stated. “Together, these qualities set a new benchmark for what a world-class luxury SUV can be.”

Now in its 22nd year, the World Car Awards program aims to recognize and reward excellence in the global automotive industry. The jury draws from over 100 accredited journalists across multiple countries.

Lucid Gravity SUV Platform and Performance

The Lucid Gravity SUV is built on a new platform designed specifically for a sporty SUV application. It features two electric motors, all-wheel drive, and a standard adjustable air suspension system. These components work together to deliver a smooth ride across paved roads and off-road trails alike.

An available rear-axle steering system improves high-speed handling on winding roads. It also reduces the turning radius needed in tight city streets and crowded parking lots, making daily driving more manageable.

Interior Space and Passenger Capacity

Despite carrying a midsize exterior footprint, the Gravity seats up to seven adults across three rows. The sliding second-row seats pair with available integrated convenience tables to improve the rear passenger experience. Legroom extends through to the third row, supporting a comfortable seven-passenger configuration.

Lucid positions the Gravity as a vehicle that delivers full-size SUV practicality without the bulk, combining usable interior space with strong efficiency and performance figures.

Range, Charging, and Availability

The Gravity’s miniaturized powertrain delivers up to 450 miles of EPA-estimated driving range on a single charge. Its DC fast-charging capability can add 200 miles of range in under 11 minutes. Lucid says the vehicle is compatible with more than 32,500 DC fast-charging stations across North America.

The Lucid Gravity is currently on display at the 2026 New York International Auto Show, running from April 3 to 12. Visitors can view the vehicle in person and test its performance on the show’s dedicated electric vehicle test track. Orders can be placed through the Lucid Motors website.
