Mashreq has launched cross-border digital accounts for Egyptian nationals living in the UAE, making it the first bank in the country to offer fully remote account opening in Egypt through a mobile app. The service went live on April 8, 2026.
Egyptian nationals holding a NEO, Gold, or Private account with Mashreq UAE can now open a Mashreq Egypt account instantly, without visiting a branch or submitting physical documents. The entire process runs through the Mashreq UAE mobile app.
How the Cross-Border Digital Accounts Work
Once activated, customers gain access to a unified global dashboard inside the Mashreq UAE app. This dashboard displays both UAE and Egypt account balances in a single view, giving users direct control over their finances across both countries.
The accounts support balances in Egyptian Pound (EGP) and US Dollar (USD). Customers also receive a free debit card with high withdrawal and spending limits, along with lifestyle perks covering dining, entertainment, and travel.
Free Transfers via Quick Remit
After account activation, customers can send money between their UAE and Egypt accounts at no cost using Quick Remit, a remittance feature exclusive to Mashreq account holders. Transfers are processed in real time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“We are the first bank in the UAE to enable non-resident Egyptians to open an account in Egypt fully digitally, without the need for physical paperwork or branch visits. This reflects our mission of reimagining banking and giving our customers greater convenience, speed, and value, further supported by our zero-fee Quick Remit service.”

Context and Outlook
Mashreq is headquartered in Dubai and operates across the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Pakistan, Türkiye, India, the UK, the US, and Hong Kong. The bank has been active for nearly six decades and covers retail banking, corporate and investment banking, Islamic banking, wealth management, and treasury services.
The Egyptian expatriate community in the UAE represents one of the largest non-resident populations in the Gulf. Access to mobile banking tools that connect home-country accounts has been a growing demand among this segment. Mashreq’s new service addresses that gap directly, with no fees attached to the core transfer function.
The bank said it plans to continue investing in digital financial services that serve expatriate communities across its international network.
