Mashreq has introduced a fully digital salary payment experience for employers across the United Arab Emirates through a direct integration with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The financial institution established this capability via Al Etihad Payments to modernize payroll workflows for corporate clients.

Direct Integration via Al Etihad Payments

Under the new setup, business banking clients can register their corporate accounts directly with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The registration occurs inside the Mashreq Biz Online platform as a one-time procedure. Consequently, companies eliminate multi-step paperwork when onboarding corporate payroll profiles.

The system routes corporate payment transactions directly through Al Etihad Payments channels. As a result, businesses can handle recurring disbursements without submitting separate physical files to government portals.

Benefits of the digital salary payment System

The deployment of this digital salary payment framework allows employers to disburse compensation more quickly while maintaining regulatory alignment. Corporate finance teams reduce the administrative burden of manual reconciliations during regular payroll cycles.

Specifically, small and medium enterprises gain faster turnaround times on batch transactions. The automated checks built into the platform reduce errors before transactions reach final settlement.

Compliance with Wages Protection Scheme

The integration updates the bank’s capabilities under the Wages Protection Scheme. This government mechanism monitors wage disbursements to guarantee that private sector workers receive timely and accurate compensation under UAE labor regulations.

“At Mashreq, we continue to invest in digital-first solutions that simplify critical business processes for our SME customers. Our integration with MoHRE strengthens our Wages Protection Scheme (WPS) proposition by enabling a seamless and compliant salary payment experience, supporting employers while reinforcing Mashreq’s role as a trusted banking partner for businesses operating in the UAE.”

Furthermore, the automated verification mechanisms help protect payroll data integrity, aligning with national cybersecurity and financial compliance standards.

Support for National Digital Transformation

The initiative aligns with broader federal strategies, including the We the UAE 2031 vision, which promotes paperless governance and financial efficiency. By shifting manual registry requirements into a single digital salary payment gateway, the financial sector contributes directly to national economic transparency.

Mashreq operates across the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, Europe, and the United States. The bank stated that it will continue updating its business banking software suites to support corporate governance and regulatory compliance across its operating markets.
