Mastercard has appointed Yasemin Bedir as the new Mastercard EEMEA President, effective September 1, 2026.
Based in the United Arab Emirates, she will manage regional strategies and partnerships with financial institutions, governments, retailers, and fintech firms. This appointment comes as the previous regional head, Dimitrios Dosis, transitions to the role of Chief Commercial Payments Officer. Bedir will also join the global Management Committee of the company.
The Role of the Mastercard EEMEA President
The newly appointed Mastercard EEMEA President brings nearly 20 years of experience within the company to her new position. She previously served as the Division President for Eastern Europe for four years, managing operations through complex regulatory environments. Her responsibilities will now expand to cover a larger geographic area that has grown significantly in recent years.
Career Background and Experience
Bedir joined the company in 2007 and has held several leadership positions across different markets. She served as the General Manager for operations in Turkey and Azerbaijan. Following this, she spent nearly five years in North America overseeing relationships with community institutions and processors. Her early career includes roles at HSBC, Garanti Bank, and Yapı Kredi in Turkey.
Executive Leadership Statements
Sachin Mehra, Chief Business Officer at Mastercard, stated that the region requires creative thinking and strong relationships.
“Yasemin is a leader who finds the best in her teams to help them deliver the greatest impact for our customers and to fuel local economies. Regional Growth and Development
The EEMEA division represents a high-growth segment for the company’s global economy & business operations. By expanding digital payment choices, the company aims to support local businesses and financial institutions. Bedir, who is also a co-founder of the Professional Women Network, has previously led initiatives to support small and medium-sized enterprises.
As the transition takes effect in September, the company will continue its focus on digital transformation and financial technology. The integration of new payment flows remains a priority for the regional leadership team.
