Mistral AI raises $830 million in debt financing to purchase 13,800 Nvidia GB300 GPUs for a data centre in Bruyeres-le-Chatel, near Paris, as the French artificial intelligence company advances its goal of building 200MW of compute capacity in Europe by the end of 2027.

Facility Details and GPU Procurement

The new hardware will be installed at the Bruyeres-le-Chatel facility. Mistral AI stated the investment will bring the centre’s total capacity to 44MW. The company did not disclose a timeline for the GPU deployment.

Lenders Behind the $830M Deal

Seven financial institutions provided the debt financing. The lenders are Bpifrance, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole CIB, HSBC, La Banque Postale, MUFG, and Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking. The participation of both French state-backed and international banks reflects broad institutional support for the deal.

Sovereign AI Demand Drives Strategy

Mistral AI stated on social media that the financing “underscores their confidence in our vision: Europe needs an ambitious AI cloud infrastructure and an independent AI stack.” The company is building infrastructure to serve demand for sovereign AI from governments and enterprises. Most major players in this segment are based in the United States or China.

Sweden Partnership Expands Footprint Beyond France

In February 2026, Mistral AI said a partnership with EcoDataCenter would direct €1.2 billion toward data centre infrastructure in Sweden. The company described this as its first infrastructure investment outside of France. Moreover, the Sweden deal signals a broader European expansion strategy beyond the company’s home market.

Outlook: Path to 200MW Target

With the Bruyeres-le-Chatel facility reaching 44MW and the Sweden project underway, Mistral AI is building toward its 200MW European target by end of 2027. Consequently, the company’s infrastructure ambitions position it as a significant player in the European technology landscape. The pace of further financing rounds will determine whether the 200MW goal remains on schedule.
