The Mistral Series D funding round raised €3 billion (about $3.58 billion) at a post-money valuation exceeding €21 billion, cementing significant growth for the French technology firm. Samsung Electronics led the equity round alongside EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund and PSG Equity as co-leads. The capital infusion represents the largest equity fundraising ever completed by a European technology enterprise, according to reporting by TechCrunch.
Global Investors Back Mistral Series D
A diverse group of international institutions joined the financing round to strengthen the company’s financial base. American venture firms including Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Nvidia, Salesforce Ventures, Advent, and BlackRock participated as backers. In addition, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg joined as a sovereign participant alongside returning European investment entities, underscoring broader institutional confidence in the firm’s business trajectory.
“The new funding will allow the company to move at a faster pace across research, development, products, and infrastructure.”

Infrastructure and Compute Expansion Plans
Mistral plans to allocate the fresh capital toward scaling compute capacity and building independent infrastructure across Europe. Specifically, the lab aims to deploy 1 GW of computing capacity by 2030, which includes constructing its initial dedicated data center in France. Furthermore, the organization expanded its hardware and infrastructure alliances, maintaining technical collaboration with Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASML and American partner Microsoft.
Focus on Sovereign Enterprise Deployment
Rather than focusing purely on consumer conversational bots, the lab focuses heavily on sovereign deployments for public and corporate institutions. The platform recently introduced controls that allow enterprise clients to designate specific geographical regions for data processing, reinforcing cybersecurity compliance and local governance. The software suite also hosts third-party open-weight models to provide clients with direct administrative control over their operational pipelines.
With the close of the Mistral Series D, the French laboratory intends to accelerate enterprise operations across multiple continents. Johan Bergqvist, Chief Financial Officer at Mistral, noted that model training efficiency allows the business to deliver enterprise software without matching the excessive capital outlays of rival frontier laboratories. The company currently maintains active enterprise operations across 20 countries worldwide.
Strategic Partnerships and Market Growth
The capital expansion arrives during formal diplomatic meetings between French President Emmanuel Macron and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. Macron publicly welcomed the investment from Samsung Electronics, describing the strategic alignment as part of a third approach to global artificial intelligence development. Meanwhile, corporate leadership confirmed strategic roadmaps to expand software sales across North America, Asia, and the Middle East through specialized enterprise integrations and cloud apps ecosystems.
