Nokia and Ericsson made separate moves to advance Nokia Ericsson AI networking, as the former unveiled a facility to validate emerging technologies and the latter tapped SAP to assist in overhauling its operations.
The Finnish vendor stated a fresh approach to testing, integrating and deploying technologies is required to cope with changes to the operation of data centres brought about by AI.

Its AI Networking Innovation Laboratory located in the US state of California aims to tackle this by providing the procedures, silicon, hardware and architectural concepts to put emerging technologies through their paces. Nokia is also promoting collaboration among silicon, GPU and cloud companies, among others.

Ericsson’s partnership with SAP for AI
Ericsson’s move was revealed during the European edition of SAP Sapphire, the company’s annual technology conference which ran this week in Madrid. The vendor is to employ a SAP data cloud product and Joule AI copilot to develop a centralised data architecture intended to streamline decision-making across its global operations.
SAP stated the approach would cut duplication and make it easier to integrate processes. It noted Ericsson is moving ahead with putting the AI set-up into practice following pilots. The vendor aims to modernise its operations along with deriving tangible business value from data and AI, SAP explained.
