SAL and Microsoft announced a partnership to explore joint opportunities in digital logistics and cloud technology during LEAP 2026 in Riyadh. SAL Logistics Services, the national provider of air cargo handling and supply chain management in Saudi Arabia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft Arabia on September 3, 2026. The agreement sets up a structured framework to examine modern technology integration across cargo operations and regional distribution networks.
Collaboration Areas for SAL and Microsoft
The agreement focuses on integrating advanced cloud infrastructure, data analytics, and artificial intelligence into operational workflows. Both entities plan to develop digital solutions aimed at increasing efficiency across cargo handling. Furthermore, the collaboration will evaluate specific operational use cases to enhance customer experience across logistics channels, cargo tracking, and warehouse management.
Sustainability initiatives represent another core element of the agreement. The organizations intend to use modern software capabilities to support cleaner logistics practices, reduce resource consumption, and optimize energy efficiency. In addition, the initiative aligns with wider industry efforts in telecommunications and technology to build modern supply networks across the Kingdom.
Advancing Supply Chain Capabilities
Through this agreement, the two organizations will establish direct technical dialogue to identify complementary strengths. Microsoft Arabia will provide technological expertise and tools to assist the national logistics provider in building its technical roadmap. Consequently, the operational teams will explore ways to modernize data handling, optimize fleet coordination, and refine customer interfaces across major hubs.
The integration of intelligent analytics is expected to provide cargo teams with deeper visibility into day-to-day ground operations. By analyzing operational metrics in real time, logistics planners can better anticipate freight demand, reduce turnaround times at airport cargo terminals, and improve overall service reliability for enterprise clients.
Alignment with Saudi Vision 2030
The planned collaboration directly supports the Kingdom’s goal of establishing a global logistics hub under the directives of Saudi Vision 2030. Developing modern digital logistics capabilities is central to transforming national trade networks and improving regional connectivity. Meanwhile, expanding digital capabilities within supply chains contributes to long-term growth across the economy.
The structured framework agreed upon by SAL and Microsoft will guide future project evaluations, technical testing, and potential solution rollouts across the company’s network in Saudi Arabia. As the partnership develops, both organizations will continue to assess emerging digital solutions that can strengthen national trade infrastructure and streamline cargo management.
