Saudi Arabia achieved advanced global rankings in artificial intelligence indicators within the artificial intelligence sector of the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2026. The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) supported this performance through initiatives aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. Notably, the Kingdom ranked 13th globally among 70 countries in the overall report.
The country also secured the third position among G20 economies. This progress occurred during the Year of Artificial Intelligence 2026 in Saudi Arabia. Consequently, these results highlight the transition toward a technology-driven economy.
Global Rankings in AI Adoption
Saudi Arabia ranked fourth globally in AI adoption by companies. This achievement reflects the active participation of the private sector. Meanwhile, the Kingdom also secured fourth place globally in societal access to advanced technologies.
In addition, the country ranked fifth globally in trust indicators for these advanced systems. This ranking is supported by regulatory frameworks that promote responsible technology use. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia placed fifth globally in corporate investment in these technologies.
National Initiatives Driving Progress
SDAIA implemented several programs to support these rankings. Specifically, the Rowad Package and the Generative AI Accelerator (GAIA) helped companies adopt new tools. Moreover, the AI Ethics Incentive Badges encouraged responsible development.
To improve societal access, the SDAIA Academy for Data & AI provided specialized training. The SAMAI program also aims to train one million Saudis in these technologies. Additionally, the National Olympiad for Programming and Artificial Intelligence (ATHKA) prepared young talent for the future.
