The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) has renewed its call for individuals and organizations to register Saudi domain names through licensed registrars as part of a new awareness campaign. The “Saudi Domain” campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance and features of Saudi domain names in promoting digital identity for both individuals and entities across the Kingdom.
CST stated that Saudi domain names operate on a reliable infrastructure comprising more than 300 distributed Name Servers, positioning the service among the largest globally based on international best practices and standards. The commission emphasized its regulatory and supervisory role in overseeing the registration of Saudi domain names to protect registrants’ rights and maintain service quality delivered through licensed registrars.
Campaign Targets Multiple Sectors
The campaign targets government entities, the private sector, and individuals across Saudi Arabia. Private sector organizations and individuals can register domain names through licensed registrars, while government entities must register domains via the Digital Government Authority at nic.sa.
Critical Internet Infrastructure Role
Domain names serve as the primary resource within the Domain Name System (DNS), a critical component of internet infrastructure. This system enables users to access services, applications, and digital content through domain names rather than numeric IP addresses. Without functional domain name systems, users would face significant barriers to navigating online resources.
