Artificial intelligence has emerged as a primary driver for business development, opening new growth avenues for small and medium-sized Saudi enterprises and local entrepreneurs. According to a report by SPA (English), the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) stated that these advanced technologies are strengthening business competitiveness. Consequently, the national economy is rapidly adopting digital solutions to enhance overall productivity.
AI Week Highlights Digital Shift
This development was highlighted during AI Week, an event organized by the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha’at) in partnership with SDAIA. The event took place from August 9 to 13, 2026. Specifically, the initiative aimed to build stronger links between technological enablers and the local business sector.
Organizers designed the event to move artificial intelligence technologies from theoretical concepts into practical workplace applications. Meanwhile, SDAIA explained that opportunities to use these tools within businesses are expanding rapidly. As a result, companies can now integrate these systems directly into their daily operations.
New Growth Avenues for Saudi enterprises
The diversification of technology across products, services, and operations is creating new pathways for Saudi enterprises to improve their performance. Furthermore, these tools allow businesses to make better use of available resources. Consequently, entrepreneurs can develop specific solutions tailored directly to current market needs.
This technological shift enables entrepreneurs to turn ideas into viable business models with potential for expansion. Therefore, Saudi enterprises can establish a more sustainable presence in the regional market. Notably, the integration of these systems helps reduce operational costs over time.
Expanding Applications Across Sectors
During a panel discussion at the event, SDAIA investment director Hesham Alsheddi discussed the role of technology in supporting the investment environment. He noted that these tools offer opportunities for developing flexible and scalable business models.
“The use of these technologies is no longer limited to the technology sector, but has expanded across economic activities to improve operational efficiency and optimize resource utilization.”
Hesham Alsheddi, Investment Director at SDAIA
Supporting the Investment Environment
The participation of SDAIA builds on its ongoing efforts to support the entrepreneurship environment. Specifically, the authority provides practical solutions that strengthen the readiness of small and medium-sized businesses. These efforts directly support the objectives of the Year of Artificial Intelligence 2026.
The Year of Artificial Intelligence 2026 seeks to expand the use of advanced technologies across the Kingdom. Ultimately, the initiative aims to maximize the economic and developmental impact of these tools. As a result, Saudi enterprises are expected to gain a stronger competitive advantage in the global market.
