Snap Inc. has officially unveiled its new SPECS AR glasses, introducing a standalone wearable computer designed for spatial computing.
The device brings artificial intelligence assistance, work tools, and entertainment directly into the user’s physical environment. Notably, the product is available for pre-order starting today for $2,195 with a $200 refundable deposit.
The hardware is manufactured from Swiss TR90 polymer and comes in two sizes. Specifically, the 47 mm model weighs 132 grams, while the 52 mm version weighs 136 grams. Furthermore, the device supports prescription inserts for users who require vision correction.
Technical Specifications of SPECS AR glasses
For visual performance, the SPECS AR glasses feature a liquid crystal on silicon display. This system provides a 51-degree field of view and supports 16 million colors. Consequently, the display area is equivalent to a 24-inch desktop monitor or a 115-inch home cinema screen.
The optical system uses a redesigned waveguide featuring billions of nanostructures to minimize visual distortion. Additionally, electrochromic lenses can transition from clear to tinted within 10 seconds. The device is powered by two Snapdragon processors that handle computer vision and lens rendering.
Performance and Motion Latency
The dual-processor architecture enables high-speed hand tracking and lower latency during interactions. Specifically, the system delivers a 7-millisecond motion-to-photon latency to anchor digital content in the real world. As a result, users experience more natural interactions with spatial elements.

Battery Life and Developer Ecosystem
The built-in battery provides up to four hours of mixed-use runtime on a single charge. Meanwhile, the included charging case offers four additional charges, extending total mobile usage to 20 hours. In addition, Snap announced new developer tools, including agentic development in Lens Studio and a native development kit.
To support software creation, Snap introduced the SPECS Spatial Benchmark to evaluate how AI models perform across real-world spatial tasks. Developers can also use a new Migration Agent to port existing projects to the platform. These tools aim to expand the library of interactive applications available at launch.
Privacy Protections and Global Availability
Regarding data security, Snap designed the SPECS AR glasses to operate with a privacy-first approach. The device features on-device processing and an LED indicator that glows during recording. The company expects to ship the product this fall to customers in the United States, United Kingdom, and France. Finally, a global marketing campaign shot by Steven Meisel will support the launch.
