YouTube has launched its new supervised kid accounts in the Middle East and North Africa to provide age-appropriate viewing experiences. Consequently, parents in the region can now manage how their children interact with the video platform.
These accounts are designed for families who want to allow their children to use the main YouTube application under parental guidance. Specifically, the system offers three distinct content settings that align with international ratings.
YouTube Launches Supervised Kid Accounts in MENA
Parents can choose from three content tiers depending on their child’s readiness. The first option, “Explore,” includes educational videos, tutorials, and crafts. Meanwhile, the “Explore More” setting adds gaming and live streams to the accessible content. Finally, the “Most of YouTube” option allows access to almost all videos except those restricted to users over 18.
In addition, the platform introduced a specialized timer for its short-form video feed. This tool allows parents to set daily limits on scrolling or disable the feature entirely.
Parental Control Features and Content Settings
The supervised kid accounts feature several default safety settings for users under the age of 18. For instance, the system automatically disables content creation and comment writing for these profiles. Furthermore, autoplay is turned off by default, and personalized advertisement targeting is completely restricted.

Built-In Protections for Younger Viewers
The rollout of these supervised kid accounts began on July 2, 2026, across multiple countries in the region. Notably, the feature is now available in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, and Turkey.
Parents can configure these profiles through the Family Center within the main application settings. Alternatively, they can use the Google Family Link application to manage digital rules and filter content.
Regional Availability and Setup Process
According to data from research firm Kantar, 95% of viewers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE agree that the platform offers high-quality content in education and learning. Therefore, these new tools aim to support safe learning environments for young users.
Educational Context and Platform Usage
The new profiles join the existing supervised teen accounts and the standalone YouTube Kids application. As a result, the platform now offers a tiered safety structure for different age groups in the Middle East.
