Trip.com payments are set to become faster and more reliable following a new strategic partnership with Checkout.com, announced on March 26, 2026. The collaboration aims to improve the booking experience for travelers across key markets, including Saudi Arabia, Japan, the United Kingdom, and North America.

Partnership Targets Key Global Markets

Trip.com, part of Trip.com Group, operates in 39 countries and regions across 24 languages. The platform offers hotel reservations, flights, trains, car rentals, and attractions. Through this agreement, Checkout.com will provide localized acquiring capabilities to help Trip.com improve payment acceptance rates and reduce operational costs.

Trip.com Payments Infrastructure Expands with Checkout.com

The partnership deploys digital card payment services in the UK, Japan, and Saudi Arabia first. Trip.com plans to extend this offering to North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand in subsequent phases. Checkout.com processed more than $300 billion in e-commerce payments volume in 2025, supporting over 145 currencies globally.

Beyond card payments, both companies plan to integrate local payment methods such as e-wallets and bank transfers. This expansion targets the varied needs of consumers across different markets. The move supports the broader growth of the tourism industry as it shifts toward a digital economy.

Technology Stack and Security Features

Trip.com has already adopted Standalone 3DS for authentication to strengthen payment performance and security. The company will also explore Checkout.com’s Vault for secure card storage, Identity Verification (IDV), and card issuing solutions. These tools are intended to streamline payment flows as Trip.com scales its global operations.

Checkout.com is headquartered in London and maintains 19 offices worldwide. Its network processes billions of transactions annually for clients including Spotify, Uber, eBay, and Sony. The company’s modular infrastructure allows merchants to tailor payment strategies by market.
